Mumbai: Kangana Ranaut who was recently in a controversy after the mind-boggling episode of “Aap Ki Adalat” has supported the 17-year-old child actor Zaira Wasim on her molestation case on a Delhi-Mumbai flight on Saturday Night.
The incident took place when the Dangal superstar was travelling through a Vistara flight and the man sitting behind her put his foot on her armrest. Zaira Wasim cried and broke down several times while she was on the live video on a Social Media Network as she explained the complete incident. She also captured the legs of the accused passenger.
Instead of getting support, she got heavily trolled. People claim that it a “Publicity Stunt” and accused her of making false claims but a lot of Bollywood celebrities came out in support of Zaira Wasim Molestation Case.
When Kangana Ranaut was asked to comment on Zaira Wasim Molestation Case, she has expressed her disappointment on the whole fiasco. She was disappointed because people are trolling her instead of praising her for speaking up against such an issue.
People are bashing young Zaira Wasim on social media channels and to be honest this is upsetting. People should praise this act by such young girls but instead, she is getting judged.
“The backlash this young girl is getting is so upsetting. Instead of lauding a girl for speaking up, people are judging and questioning her, “said Kangana at an event held to launch Shobhaa De’s book.
Kangana Ranaut said that it is very important for women to speak up against something which is wrong and unjustified.
She expressed her views on Zaira Wasim Molestation Case in detail and said that “People should stop passing judgements on her”.
She further added,” I want to bring to your notice this young girl, who has spoken about this harassment that she faced in a flight. But look at the backlash she is getting. It is so upsetting. I mean there are witnesses, who are claiming that the innocent man just happened to put his foot on the arm-rest and that’s the only crime that the person committed.
If anyone is going to put their foot on my arm-rest, it’s open to interpretation, that if this is emotional or sexual harassment or personal because you are in my intimate space, and I will interpret it. Your fellow passengers can’t tell me that his innocent leg was resting,” she said to Indian Express.
Kangana continued and said “A young girl decides to step up and say that she has been harassed, there are so many things like your own parents, people who wish you well and your management companies, they tend to tell you, ‘Don’t associate yourself with something dark. You are the girl, who wants this brand, that brand, who wants this and that film.’ For that young girl to go against all of that and speak up.
Now, I am not in that position, so I don’t know what kind of harassment it was. But everyone agrees on one thing that the foot was on her arm-rest. This is wrong. It is very wrong. Why are we judging and trolling her? In this kind of environment, which is so frightening, who will speak up?”
The accused Vikas Sachdeva was arrested after the video went viral. His friend and his wife defended Vikas saying that he apologized to her on Zaira Wasim Molestation Case and she said “Okay“.
According to a co-passenger, the man’s foot was on the armrest but he didn’t misbehave. He also said that Zaira Wasim shouted at him and the matter was settled there itself.
But Kangana would’ve taken a harsh step if she was in place of Zaira Wasim. “Most people saying that he was just keeping his foot on the armrest, taking an innocent nap. For me, it is highly offensive. I would have broken his leg. So, I think it is arguable. I am not dissecting or jumping to the conclusion, and no one should play judge whether it is me or media or social media,” she said.
Different people have a different opinion. Some people say that Zaira Wasim is innocent and she is right. While some people say that she is pulling a publicity stunt.
Either way, without passing judgement on Zaira Wasim Molestation Case, we should look into the matter and find out what is the truth first. Bashing and trolling her on social media will not bring any result and we should laud her speaking up the truth.
